Meet Our October Spotlight: Lidiette Hamilton, M.A. CCC-SLP

DotCom Therapy® (DCT) is happy to announce the October Spotlight, Lidiette Hamilton.  Lidiette is a speech therapist for DCT and primarily works in schools with bilingual populations.  Lidiette is not only a wonderful therapist but also an advocate for skilled intervention services when working with english language learners and their families.

Here’s a little more about our October spotlight:

1.) What made you want to become a speech therapist?

Although I did not know what my major would be until a couple of years into college, I was certain that I wanted a career that would allow me to use my bilingual abilities to help others. After many meetings with my academic counselor and plenty of research I came across this career and decided it was the perfect fit! I was always intrigued by the process of communication and bilingualism. Additionally, I thoroughly enjoy learning new things every day through this career. There is never a dull movement!

2.) What made you want to join the DotCom Therapy team?

The idea of making speech therapy services available to everyone really got my attention. Throughout my career I had seen many patients and students not being able to receive the services they needed. I wanted to be part of a DotCom Therapy’s mission. Also, who doesn’t love a short commute to work?

3.) What has been your favorite thing about teletherapy?

My favorite thing about teletherapy has been to get to know and work with people from different cultural backgrounds. I love that I can be in three different states all in one day providing services to students who otherwise would not be able to see a speech-language pathologist. I have thoroughly enjoyed the flexibility allotted by teletherapy. I recently relocated and was able to seamlessly continue working. Additionally, I have enjoyed spending more time with my family and not on the road commuting to and from work.

4.) Fill in the blank.  When I’m not working, you’ll most likely find me ….

Spending time with my family and my two dogs, cooking or sitting down with my favorite blanket reading a good book.

Thanks to Lidiette for being an advocate and for making DotCom Therapy’s mission a reality.
